Value Village – December 2016 Part II

Lately I’ve been thrifting about every two weeks as I not only enjoy it but also am putting more care into buying for sourcing so that everything I buy is especially curated. We all have our routines when thrifting and I’ll put everything I’m interested in into my basket and then do an edit of the end so that I’m not overly advantageous with my spending. Here’s what I spotted on my second thrift haul of the month. I went on a Friday afternoon and the store was a bit…

Green Beauty Favourites 2016

The past few years that I’ve been posting my green beauty favourites at the end of the year, I select a couple of favourites as a top 5 or top 3. But this year, I have no set number, just a small collection of some products I’ve loved and why I think you will love them too. The list includes products that are my own products from my cabinet – do we really need another Instagram celebrity being paid for selling us things that they have never used? This is…

Value Village – December 2016

I love thrift shopping more and more. It just becomes my secret (not so secret) place to go to debrief. Lately, I’ve been finding things not only just for myself but also for friends as well as sourcing to sell so I’ve been spending a bit more time there and giving more and more care and thought into what I bring home. Here’s what I spotted: Elevenses blazer $10, Anthropologie brand Zara coat $40 North Face jacket $40 G-Star jacket $20 Zara pointy flats, BNWT, $18 I spotted so many…

What’s in my preloved bag?

Women tend to have an on going laugh about the things we find in our purses. Our bags become an abyss of treasures and memories – I’m pretty sure I currently have glow sticks from last night’s Christmas party in my bag right now. As odd and funny these objects we find in our bags tend to be, they become very heavy to carry along with us that bag clean outs are like mini cleanses for our souls. A soulful purse clean out is what I have recently gone through,…

Life Preloved – November Update

At long last, I am back! My blog went down sometime in the spring and in all these months since, I’ve been making connections both online and in person, getting involved in various events in my community that support sustainable fashion, discovering other mediums of social media such as the videos of my thrift hauls on Instagram and I’ve opened an eBay shop. I did miss writing and have since met lots of new people and brands that have inspired me as a perfect fit of my own goals for…

Plato’s Closet – February 2016

Plato’s Closet recently opened in Edmonton, just south of Whyte Avenue and it is a welcomed addition to our preloved shopping community. The store is part of a company but I love it because they buy clothing and take men’s, which are two factors that were very much needed in Edmonton. I brought two items with me to sell as I wanted to capture the full experience and see what sort of return they give. I brought a J Crew cardigan in good condition and a Polo Ralph Lauren shirt…

Value Village – December 2015

For my last thrift of the year I decided to take a risk and head to Value Village on Christmas Eve. It ended up being a very good risk since the store was quite quiet as compared to what the roads, malls, grocery stores would have been like. I think I will have to make it a yearly tradition! It ended up being a quick visit as I too wanted to get home but it was very lucrative in the short amount of time! Here’s what I spotted: Pier 1…

2015 Green Beauty Top 3

When first preparing for this post, my intention was to post a top 5 favourite green beauty products like last year. Last year was an epic year for me with green beauty, I went hardcore and discovered life changing amazing products that I still use to this day. Perhaps because last year was so great, was the reason why I struggled so much finding products of the same MUST have caliber to post about. I have a lot of green beauty products that I like but I’m very much a…

Vespucci Consignment – November 2015

I grew up shopping at consignment boutiques with my mom. As an adult, I continued shopping and taking clothing to consignment stores long before I started thrifting. I decided to do a trip to Vespucci because it’s one of Edmonton’s longest standing consignment stores and because the area where Vespucci is located is right beside Groat Bridge reconstruction and many shop owners have been saying that the bridge construction has hurt their businesses. When I was there it was a Monday afternoon and the store had many shoppers in it,…

Value Village – October 2015

Like most thrifters, Halloween time is my least favourite time to shop as the store is cramped with new Halloween costumes and more customers. But any time that I have visited during this season, has always been very lucrative for me. This particular shop was a gold mine in the shoe and dress section that I had a full cart and had to make a b-line for the change rooms early in my shop. That has never happened before! Plus, I have very small feet that the shoe section is…
