Value Village – September 2015

For this month’s thrift, my mom joined me! It was only her second time at Value Village since I first introduced her to the store about five years ago. My mom is essentially how I got started in the preloved lifestyle as I grew up spending afternoons with her in second hand consignment stores. She wasn’t much into thrifting though until I brought her with me and I remember her commenting that she was impressed by what a nice store my Value Village was (Whyte Ave, Edmonton).

Here’s what I spotted:

20150904_151335Nine West iPad case, brand new tag $40 still on it, $6

20150904_151508Lots of cool teapots!

20150904_151520Good Luck Cat tea pot set $9. I probably should have gotten this!

20150904_151812Starbucks mugs are what I always thrift for but I left these two behind, I wasn’t totally drawn to them.

20150904_153218Calvin Klein flats $12. These were very cute!

20150904_153452Marc Fisher flats $13, look how brand new the condition is! These were sized wrong, tag says 8 but inside was 6! A great tip is to check all the sizes as you will see this often.

20150904_153642Browns sandals $13. Another great condition shoe!

20150904_154236Soia & Kyo jacket $6! This was my second Soia & Kyo jacket that I had spotted at Value Village as I just seen one last month but this one was in need of some TLC (dirty, buttons missing) hence the price.

20150904_164621-1This was a great structured jacket by Wildfred $18. But it was just a bit too tight on me plus it kinda reminded me of the ‘Kim Kardashian vs Mrs. Doubtfire who wore it better’ flower print!

20150904_155616Nougat dress and cardigan $12. Nougat is one of my favourite brands.

20150904_155701Rachel Roy dress $18. Ok so this is a very sought after designer, hence the higher price but it’s missing the slip that goes underneath so that you’re not wearing a see-through dress! This one needs a price adjustment.

20150904_155900Gap dress $15.

20150904_155945Kismet dress $12.

20150904_160129Joseph Ribkoff dress $15.

20150904_160222H&M dress $12. Really loved this but it was too small for me.

20150904_160324Anthropologie dress $15.

20150904_160750Ann Klein dress $17. Looked great on the hanger but on me, it looked very ‘mother of the bride’ with the sleeves.

20150904_165027Shades of Grey dress $25, tags still on $128. This is one that I was kinda regretting not getting but it was a bit higher priced and dry clean only.

And now for what I purchased, actually let’s start with what my mom purchased.

20150904_162030Matt & Nat purse $5. I had seen Matt & Nat purses at Value Village before but they were all priced $20-$40! This one caught my eye as my mom was interested in another purse but I convinced her to get this one as it was a better brand, condition and resale value.

20150904_162422Rudsak purse $8. Then I also spotted this Rudsak purse which had three spacious compartments and was a great purchase because these purses are $200-$300! I’m pretty sure she won’t go thrifting without me next time so I can spot all these lucrative brands for her!

FullSizeRender(1)Burberry scarf $7!!! My mom picked out this scarf, I was expecting it to be fake but then when she showed me that it had a very convincing tag, I encouraged her to purchase it no matter what. Then she gifted it to me! Thanks mom! I researched many posts to verify it’s authenticity and have not come across anything that leads me to believe it’s fake!

And now for what I purchased:

20150904_151919Starbucks mug $4. Great condition!

20150904_151826Starbucks mug $4. I’m not sure about this one though as I when I removed the tag, there was no year on the bottom of the mug… is there such as thing as fake Starbucks mugs?!

20150904_153401Via Spiga peep-toe flats $13. Love these! Would have retailed for around $200.

20150904_164316-1J. Crew cashmere sweater $8. So cute! Had to get this!

20150904_164817-1Fall jacket $15. I removed the fake fur on this so that it looks more new and transitional.

It was a pretty lucrative thrift shop for both my mom and I, can’t wait to take her again!

I’d also like to give a shout out to The Spirited Thrifter who mentioned me in her podcast interview as one of her favourite blogs! Was definetely great to hear how appreciated my posts are from another fellow thrifter! Give it a listen here.

Thanks for reading! Until the next thrift!
